Welcome to the world of WW11 Jeeps. Like you I have the makings of a 1941 Slatt Grille, only difference I have had mine for 30 years! It will never win any competitions, but I have it as original as I can make it. Heaps of fun in the bush, huntin, shootin and fishin! Even gets drivet to wrok over the summer.

Great work man, keep it up!

Cheers

Hello Charles!

We have been searching for you for the last hour! It was fun seeing your kids, your jeep, your resume; but we really just wanted to get a message to you. We are having a mini-reunion here and were looking thru old yearbooks.

Whatever happened to the Ranum76 site? I don't know if we ever thanked you for all the work you put into that. But we are now. (Thanking you)

It would be great to hear from you.

XOXOXOXOXO

I recently bought a 1948-1953 Willys. I need help on identification of the vehicle. There is no VIN. California issued only. Appears to be M38. Please email me and let me know what you used for resources (other than the handy number) to find out what exact year yours is. I am also in need of a gas tank for it. I saw some for $250.00 and to your acquired vastknowledge, is that about right?

Hi Chuck. Well I started MB106380 the other day. WOW it's cool. I was wondering what you did with your old body for you slat grill? You see, I restore to new the old bodies everyone thinks is junk. When I'm done with them you can not tell their was work done to it. I'm one of those 0.000363 percent you talked about on your site. Now I'm doing a slat grill for myself and it's going to be great. Please write me back and tell me what you did with your old body. Maybe I could get it and make it live again! Thanks Dave Peters.

Just stumbled onto your site. Great!! I own a slat grill also. It had been sunk in Darwin Harbour, Feb. 19, 1942, and was retrieved in about 1948. Was on the USS Meigs, when she was sunk during the Battle of Darwin. My Slattie is in my loving care, and I hope to restore it to as original as possible. Having to patch the body etc. Windscreen is a bit of a mess though. Can anyone give me specifications on height of early slat grills. Hard to find out much specific info here in Oz. Great site!! Keep it going. G'Day Mate.

I think your rear floor is restorable but I like original bodies. They don't always look like NEW pressed sheet metal but they come out nice. Good luck and let's see more photos!

It must have stayed in war for a while. It has many late war changes. It also was painted tan and was a radio or welding jeep as it has a factory installed hour meter and a PTO with toothed cog right behind trans case.

Although I am a Ford GPW owner, I still admire the Willys. I must stress that I was really impressed with your informative yet humorous site and would love to see it prosper. I also must wish you luck in your difficult restoration( mine is in the sane state as yours, though without the BONDO!!)and give you all the encouragement you need to keep an early part of our 'love objects' history alive. I have a site which might interest you, which is found in Estonia, and managed by a certain Sergei Naidenkov. His e-mail address is "sergei.n@neti.ee" and his web site address is " Willys MB restoration garage in Estonia". He also send out a newsletter periodically, in which one is kept updated with his restoration, parts for sale, etc...etc... He seems to be very nice and I recommend that you get in touch with him..
All in all I wish you luck, and I hope you keep this site updated as I am going to start checking it out every so often.

As a prewar Willys collector, it was so nice to find a site
with more than it's fair share of humor that acts as a
portal to the Jeep world. Many of the mechanical features
are shared or carryovers from the Willys passenger cars.
Keep up the good work.
